ABOUT

Timothy J. Hayes, Psy.D.

I began my career as a probation officer under the supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist back in 1974.  This helped shape my interest in practical solutions to life’s challenges.  After earning my B.S. in psychology and working for seven years in the field of corrections, I returned to school to acquire a doctorate in clinical psychology.

In 2004, having been a successful psychotherapist for over thirty years, I came across a set of simple, effective tools created by Dr. Michael Ryce, which were completely compatible with the non-pathologizing approach that had formed the foundation of my work.  These tools consistently yielded such solid, practical results that I immediately adopted them both in my own personal work and with my clients.

While maintaining my private practice as a clinical psychologist, I also worked closely with Dr. Ryce to learn the finer points and deeper truths behind those tools.  I also began hosting a support group each Tuesday evening to teach people the tools Dr. Ryce offers for free.  That group still meets each Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm through Zoom meeting.

In January 2011, I joined Dr. Michael Ryce and his wife, Jeanie, as a co-host of his free, interactive internet show/podcast, which continues to air five days a week. In March of 2019, I added an additional hour, also five days a week, to expand the reach of his show and to bring in the works of other authors, teachers, coaches, and practical spiritual teachings.

I have also donated my time to the nonprofit Journey’s Dream, and the On Your Mind podcast.   They are working to rewrite the narrative on mental health to one in which optimal health and well-being are possible and expected.  Onyourmindpodcast.org
